RIYADH, 19 March 2004 — A Sri Lankan parliamentarian's wife died on a Colombo-bound flight before it took off from the King Abdul Aziz International Airport here on Wednesday.

Fathima Sabrina, 41, wife of parliamentarian Myown Mustaffa, died a few minutes after she boarded the Sri Lankan Airlines flight N. UL 266.

Fathima,. Daughter of former parliamentarian's M. C. Ahmed, had come to the Kingdom with her husband for Umrah last Wednesday.

She had taken ill after the pilgrimage and was later admitted to Riyadh National Hospital for three days.

Piyadasa Ranawake, first secretary at the Sri Lankan Embassy, told Arab News that arrangements have been made to take the body to Colombo by the next available flight on Friday.
