DUBAI, 21 March 2004 — The Mohammed ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for Arab Management has attracted a huge number of applicants, according to a press release from the organizers. Entries have come from the public and private sectors from all over the Arab World.
“The number of entries for the award this year reflects the position it has attained in the Arab world,” said Mohammed Al-Emadi, manager of corporate communications for the award.
It also highlights Sheikh Mohammed ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum’s “vision to raise the level of professionalism in Arab organizations and institutions and encouraging healthy competition and cooperation between the public and private sectors,” he said.
The number of applicants has increased by 50 percent this year with roughly equal numbers of applicants from the public and private sector.
A team of experts in quality management, human resource development, information technology and other related fields are reviewing the applications. The evaluation process includes field visits to participating organizations to interview the candidates and ensure that each nominee is accurately assessed. The evaluation process is confidential.
Award categories include: Excellent Arab Employee, Excellent Arab Organization, Excellent Arab Management Initiative, Excellent Arab Government Organization, Excellent Arab Manager, Excellent Arab Manager (Female).
