ALKHOBAR, 21 March 2004 — Leah Cecilin Escabillas, a fresh high school graduate of the International Philippine School in Alkhobar (IPSA), has been chosen to represent students in the Kingdom at the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) from June 20 to July 1.

Escabillas will have the option of participating in the US program, which takes place in Washington D. C. and New York City, or the European program, which takes place in Vienna, Budapest and Prague.

GYLC became aware of her through her participation in the Student Search Service sponsored by the College Board.

Escabillas was among the recent graduates of the International Philippines School in Alkhobar (IPSA), receiving a first honorable mention award, which she said she was disappointed about.

She passed the tough University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) given last year in Riyadh.

She said she will take up accountancy either in UP Diliman (Quezon City) or in Silliman University (Dumaguete City).

Her parents, Romeo and Estelita are from Davao City. They will be joining her in her trip to the United States.

Her father works with Hamed A. Al-Zamil & Bros. Co., Zamil Commercial as accounts supervisor. Her mother is a staff nurse at the Armed Forces Hospital in Dhahran.
