RIYADH, 22 March 2004 — Prince Turki ibn Nasser, the president of the Meteorology and Environmental Protection Agency has affirmed that coordination is currently underway with the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources to compel the foreign companies which signed investment contracts in the gas sector to present accurate environmental feasibility studies in line with the new environmental law and its executive regulations which were recently endorsed in the Kingdom. In a press conference he held here yesterday, he stated that there is close cooperation between the Meteorology and Environment Protection Agency and the Ministry of Oil and Industry. “No permit will be issued for any factory in the Kingdom whether by foreign or Saudi investors unless a feasibility study showing respect for the environmental standards is forwarded.” he said.
