NAIROBI, 23 March 2004 — Gulf Air will stop flying to Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam today after 15 years because of “low profits”, the airline’s office in Kenya said. “Gulf Air will tomorrow (Tuesday) have its last flight to Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam after 15 years in business,” an official in Gulf Air offices told AFP by telephone. The official added that the airline has signed a code-sharing deal with Oman Air to run flights to Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar from the Gulf region. The airline, flies five times a week from Nairobi to Dubai, has been under intense competition from Emirates Airlines, which flies 14 times a week on the same route, and Kenya Airways, which has 10.
