JEDDAH, 24 March 2004 — Japanese Consul General Hajime Tanaki is returning to Tokyo tomorrow on completion of his four-year tour of the Kingdom. Dekiba Isao, currently a counselor in Abu Dhabi, will take over shortly.
Tanaki, who learned Arabic during the early part of his diplomatic assignment in Cairo, later served his country in Sudan, Syria and Jordan. This was Tanaki’s second tour here. “I had an excellent time here and will cherish my memories for a long time to come,” said Tanaki, who has been in the diplomatic service for 41 years.
Tanaki held a farewell reception at his residence on Monday night, which was attended by local officials, members of the diplomatic corps and businessmen.
