RIYADH/MANAMA, 25 March 2004 — Saudi Arabia yesterday condemned the recent violence in Bahrain, saying it was aimed at weakening the country’s security. “These irresponsible actions will not benefit anybody but will only undermine security,” an official source told the Saudi Press Agency. The source commended Bahrain’s “honorable stand” on Arab and Islamic issues. Earlier, peaceful protests in Bahrain over the killing of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin turned violent as riot police and some 400 secondary school students clashed near the US Embassy in Manama.
