RIYADH, 26 March 2004 — After a major renovation to the tune of SR500,000, the Al Khozama Bowling Center was reopened recently.
Hotel Al Khozama top brass led by hotel manager Hussein Ali Hatata, members of the Saudi national bowling team and the bowling community, majority of them Filipinos, were in attendance at the reopening of the facility. Hatata, along with recreation facilities manager Saaed Al Zahrani and Jun Arenas, finance officer of the Philippine Embassy, did the ribbon-cutting that officially swung open the doors of ABC.
Hatata and Al Zahrani were later joined by King Faisal Foundation VP Abdulraman Al-Madhali in the ceremonial roll-off.
“We have a major role to play in the community and that is providing Riyadh something new to the youth for them to be able to spend time the healthy and worthwhile way,” Hatata told Arab News in an interview.
ABC bowling supervisor Jojo Bulan organized a one-day tournament for the bowlers who came to sample the new lanes. Fernie Ballano won the event sponsored by Power Horse.
He received a color television set and SR300. The first runner-up was Boy Alvaran, second runner-up Mas Ranido and third runner-up Leo Mabunga.
