DAMMAM, 26 March 2004 — In the third week of EPCA Premier Division Knockout Tournament, sponsored by ‘Age Intrade Dubai’, Kanoo outplayed Close-Up and won the match by 25 runs. Munawar and Iqbal Bali shared a 140 runs partnership for the third wicket.
Munawar Hussain was bowled at the individual score of 89. Iqbal Bali hit 8 boundaries in an unbeaten 120 runs. Kanoo made 283 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 40 overs. Asim Baig was the most successful bowler for Close-Up with three wickets for 52.
In reply, Close-Up managed only 258 in 33 overs. Sadar led with 83 included 13 boundaries. Asim Baig batted well and scored 57 off 37 balls with five fours and one six. Naheed captured three wickets for 51 and Munawar claimed 2 for 43.
In another match, Khalifa A. Al-Gosaibi defeated Adpco by eight wickets. Adpco were all out for 258. Shohrab hit 122 runs off just 87 balls including 11 boundaries. Gosaibi’s Ansar bowled well and took three wickets for 33 runs and Aijaz claimed three wickets for 54.
Khalifa A. Al-Gosaibi crossed the winning mark of 259 for the loss of two wickets in 33 overs.
Hidayath the aggressive right-handed batsman, made an elegant unbeaten 165 off just 98 balls, to provide a sound platform for an eight wickets victory.
