RIYADH, 30 March 2004 — Korean electronics giant LG Electronics wants to team up with King Saud University in Riyadh to introduce air conditioning courses.
“We have a plan to expand this course in cooperation with King Saud University,” said Nho Hwan Yong, president of LG Air Conditioning, while inaugurating an LG “Air Conditioning Academy” yesterday.
The plan is to set up such training centers in all the Gulf states. LG academies exist in several other countries. “All the courses have the same content, so graduates with a certificate from Riyadh will be accepted in all those countries,” he said.
The medium of instruction will be English, although Arabic is to be introduced at a later stage, he said.
Admission will be open to young Saudis as well as to sales engineers and consultants and those referred by their dealers. Courses would range from one to five days.
Air conditioning remains a growth sector.
