KUWAIT CITY, 5 April 2004 — OPEC member Kuwait, which tried in vain to delay the organization’s decision to cut output by one million barrels, vowed yesterday it would work for stable oil prices and prevent “unjustified” spikes. “The Cabinet affirms Kuwait’s eagerness to ensure stable oil prices and prevent unjustified increases in order to achieve a balance between crude exporters and importers, and to support world economic growth,” State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Sharar said in a statement after the Cabinet’s weekly meeting.
