JEDDAH, 6 April 2004 — Effat College is hosting its third annual Career Day on April 13. The theme of this year’s fair is “Empowered women: Confident, intelligent, visionary”.
More than 500 participants, including companies, presenters and candidates, will be sharing their experiences, recruiting candidates and offering advice. It is an opportunity for organizations seeking to employ female professionals and for women interested in career development.
“Modern nations cannot develop purposeful, meaningful and sustainable economies without using the creative and intellectual capacity of half of their populations,” said Dr. Anastasia Kamanos Gamelin, a professor at Effat College.
Participants in the Career Day foresee a future in which Saudi women will be amongst the most educated, well-qualified and highly skilled leaders both in the Kingdom and in the global community. Among the presenters are some of the Kingdom’s female pioneers such as Mais Abu Dalbouh, a legal consultant, Farida Farsi, an education specialist, Dr. Maha Arkubi, director of the Jeddah Regional Center of the Arab Open University, Dr. Jamila Farsi, associate professor and consultant at the faculty of dentistry at King Abdul Aziz University, Dunia Bakr Yunis, a media specialist and independent producer, and captain Hanadi Hindi, the first Saudi female pilot.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Fatina Shaker, the first Saudi woman to be in charge of a radio program and later the first editor in chief of Sayidaty magazine. She is a professor emeritus in the faculty of sociology at KAAU.
