TAIF, 8 April 2004 — Two female teachers were killed and two others injured in a road accident near Taif on Tuesday morning, Al-Watan reported. The accident occurred when the bus carrying the teachers from Taif to Alkharma collided with a large truck.

Emergency units from the police, Civil Defense and Red Crescent responded to the accident but the two teachers died at the scene. The other teachers and their driver were taken to King Faisal Hospital in Taif.

The dead were identified as Wafa Tafeef Al-Daadi, 24, and Badriya Masaad Al-Laheebi, 27, both from Makkah.

Saad Al-Qarni, director of the education department in Taif, offered his condolences to the families of the victims and urged bus drivers to drive carefully to ensure the safety of teachers.

In another accident, eight students were injured when their bus hit an oncoming car in Jizan.

The driver of the car was seriously injured along with his passengers while the eight students escaped with minor injuries.
