JEDDAH, 8 March 2004 — The United Bangsaranao Council (UBC) will be holding a two-day gathering in honor of the new head of mission in the Western Region, Consul General Pendosina "Dino" Lomondot, according to its leaders.
UBC leader Ali Ditucalan said the event scheduled in mid-May at the consulate grounds is to show the group's "sincere appreciation and full support" to Lomondot, who is best remembered for his various accomplishments as vice consul in Jeddah in 1990s.
"We would also like to convey our warmest thanks and gratitude to the Philippine government for fulfilling our dream to have Dino as our consul," said Ditucalan, who is the incoming "sheikh" of the Maranao umbrella organization.
The event will coincide with the induction and investiture of the newly elected officers of UBC and the Council of Maranao Leaders (CML).
Originally scheduled April 8 and 9, the event was postponed after all other activities at the consulate were suspended to give way to the overseas absentee voting, which will run from April 11 to May 10.
