JEDDAH, 11 April 2004 — The problem of overly enthusiastic sports fans is even present in elementary school students, Al-Watan reported. A group of young students attacked one of their schoolmates who had been a referee during a break time football match. The angry students claimed the referee had been unfair by disallowing one of their goals. Teachers said they would try to eliminate such anti-social behavior but they blamed widespread interest in football for the incident.
