MADINAH, 12 April 2004 — Despite a lack of money, a man was still able to marry. With no means of meeting the costs of a wedding and because of his wife-to-be’s rush to marry, he decided on a course of action. He opened an account in a local bank and wrote checks for, among other things, the wedding hall, furniture for a new apartment and even the honeymoon. His short happy time ended when he was faced with debts in excess of SR200,000. He said that he had taken the only course open to him in view of exorbitant wedding expenses.
