RIYADH, 16 April 2004 — Saudi Tornado dished out a singularly outstanding performance on the way to the Team of the Week honors during the 14th session of the NAK Park USA Sunday Night Bowling League 8th Conference at the Riyadh Bowling Club lanes here.

Buoyed by their 27-14 conquest of frontrunner D’Marvelous the previous, Saudi Tornado hammered out a workmanlike 23-12 points victory over Unlimited VI on total pinfalls of 4,070 and 3,859.

No other team had breached the 4,000-points plateau with D’ Invaders a distant second to Saudi Tornado at 3,981, the total they registered in whipping Al Mishari Pinbusters who returned total pinalls of 3,804. The scoreline in the Invaders-Pinbusters match was 21-12.

Ronald Bautista of D’Invaders claimed Bowler of the Week honors, shooting the high series of 949 on lines of 226, 234, 257, 212 and 20 handicap.

D’Marvelous followed their defeat with a tempered performance, compiling just 14 points and total pinfalls of 3,768 in putting away HTG-Margie which returned nine points and total pinfalls of 3,623.

Schneider Electric rolled back Jadawel Bowling Club 17-15 (3,969-3,860) and Okey Lang had a rare 15-10 triumph over Blue Blood on total pinfalls of 3,770-3,693 in the other matches in the five-man team league event sponsored by NAK Park USA.

Hassan Al Anazi, a former Saudi national team member best remembered for scoring a perfect 300 game during the qualifying round of the Qatar Airways Open Bowling Tournament recently, led the rampaging Tornado with a sparkling 904.

Al Anazi tallied games of 224, 247, 193, 200 and 40 handicap. He was ably backed up by Turki Al Essa with 867, while Noel Marquez added 825, Feras Al Hattani 756 and Hakeem bin Mosaad 588.

Fernie Ballano at 821 and Tony Vicario at 786 gave Bautista the support he needed in crafting the win for D’Invaders who also drew 718 from Fidel Ferrer and 543 from JB Valerio.

Schneider Electric rotated seven players on the lanes to get the job done, and on top of the scoring ladder was Oscar Bernabe with 856.

Resty de Jesus made 813 to go with the 657 by Boy Mirando, 645 by Angel Pantoja, 520 by Cas Encila, 338 by Marvin Arocena and 140 by Bandr Arcilla.

Okey Lang’s rare moment of triumph was chiefly engineered by Lito Briones with 828 and William Ybay with 799.
