WASHINGTON, 23 April 2004 — Relenting to pressure from the Bush administration, Congress has agreed to give 27 countries in the US Visa Waiver Program a two-year moratorium before requiring their passports include new security features, such a biometric identifiers. In 2002, Congress set an Oct. 26 deadline for those countries’ passports to include the new biometric security features.
