DAMMAM, 30 April 2004 — In the EPCA First Division Knockout Tournament, sponsored by Age Intrade Dubai, Zaffar Mohiuddin grabbed three wickets and Nazeer Hussain made a fighting 45 to guide Rani Cricket Club to an 11 runs victory over Adpco in the final.
Rani opened the innings with Amer Sajjad and Minhaj Mohiuddin and the two added 69 runs in 7 overs. Amer Sajjad batted aggressively for his 44 off 23 balls. Minhaj Mohiuddin scored 32.
Another fine batting performance by Nazeer Hussain, coming at No. 3, contributed 45 runs, which included four boundaries.
The victors put up a reasonable target 228. Adpco’s Sempath took four wickets for 51 and Abid claimed three wickets for 18.
In reply, Adpco were in trouble right from the start losing two early wickets for only 3 runs.
Adpco lost wickets at regular intervals before they were bundled out for 216 in 38 overs, as they had no answer to Rani’s accurate bowling supported by excellent fielding.
The only batsmen to prosper were Shorab with a diligent 65 runs and Sajjad Nawab, who made a gritty 26 runs. Zaffar Mohiuddin was the most successful bowler for Rani claiming three wickets for 33 and Waseem captured two wickets for 39 runs.
