DAMMAM, 7 May 2004 — In the Swistar-sponsored DCA League Tournament’s finals played at DCA ground at Dammam, Bridgestone defeated Unique.
Bridgestone restricted Unique Cricketers to a meager total of 95 runs and convincingly won with 4 wickets in hand. Unique opened the innings with Talib and Patel but they failed to consolidate as they slipped to 20 for four at one stage until captain Khaleel came for rescue. Khaleel played very sensibly rotating the strike despite wickets tumbling at the other end. He was stranded after a fine knock of 46 runs (6 fours) in his side’s tally of 95. Moin contributed 15 runs. Shareef and Ali starred with the ball for Bridgestone, who displayed outstanding fielding throughout.
Bridgestone began their reply disastrously, slipping to ten for 3. Their No. 4 batsman Ehthesham accelerated the score with some powerful strokes in his fine 38 runs (2 fours and 2 sixes) until Khaleel bowled him out. Sadique (19) and Shareef (11 not out) steered Bridgestone to 99 runs for 6 in 16 overs. Khaleel and Waqar captured 2 wickets each.
Khaleel was adjudged unanimously as the Man of Match for his unbeaten knock of 46 runs and grabbing two vital wickets of Bridgestone. The DCA committee thanked the sponsors Swistar for their support.
