JEDDAH, 12 May 2004 — Police and Civil Defense officers prevented a 50-year-old man from committing suicide after being alerted by a cleaning worker.
The man had rented a furnished apartment in a building where he tried to jump from a window.
When officers tried to calm the man down, he refused to move back into the building so police distracted the man from one side and Civil Defense personnel grabbed him from the other.
Workers in the furnished apartment building said that the man did not have any signs of mental distress and looked very normal. He was taken to hospital for a medical check-up.
