DAMMAM, 12 May 2004 — Police are looking for a psychopath in connection with the rape and killing of a five-year-old girl here, sources told Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Forensic experts said the body of the girl, who was found with more than 40 stab wounds in a public park on Saturday, showed signs of sexual abuse, according to Okaz newspaper.
The girl died from multiple stab wounds to the stomach and back.
Police continue to gather information from neighbors and relatives of the victim.
The dead girl’s father, an Egyptian, reportedly suffered a nervous breakdown after seeing his daughter’s mutilated body in the morgue.
Eastern Province Governor Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd is said to be closely following the investigation, as is the Egyptian ambassador in Riyadh.
The girl, who was identified as Wala, had been playing with friends outside the family home when she disappeared.
