JEDDAH, 14 May 2004 — Saudi drivers, Ahmed Al Sabban and Essa Al Dossari, members of the Saudi Rally Dream Team are putting together the final touches to their preparations for the Jordan International Rally, the fourth round of FIA Middle East Rally Championship, which takes place next weekend (May 20-22) with the support of Al Rabie Saudi Dairy Co. and Middle East Broadcast Center “MBC”.
Al Sabban, who has not been very lucky in Jordan for the last two years, is looking forward this year and feels confident after his fine performances recently in Oman and Bahrain when he reached the 4th position in the overall list with 10 points.
“The International of Jordan has not been very nice to me” said Al Sabban. “Last year’s event in Jordan was a disappointment but at this stage this year, we are still in a very strong position as we still have five rounds for the rest of the year’s schedule,” he said .
“ I have had good finishes in my last rounds in Bahrain and Oman, but I have much work to do in order to better my position. The stages near the Red Sea are very challenging and the heat certainly make for a tough time inside my Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7. We have to take the rally for slow and careful because it is very important to get as many points as possible to keep our aspiration on course,” he said.
However, his teammate Essa Al Dossari who missed the Oman International Rally because of his father’s illness, is planning to return to Jordan at the wheel of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7, knows very well that he needs to pick up more points after he posted fifth overall. Team’s manager Loai Mushaikh said that his team is ready and hopes to see some fine performances from them.
