YANBU, 14 May 2004 — In the Summer League 2004 Jotun Paints Cup of Yanbu Cricket League, sponsored by Jotun Paints, Safra and Royal Commission (B) were convincingly defeated by Jotun Paints and Blue Star.

In the tie between Jotun & Safra the former batted first. Farooq was caught off the bowling of Bhatt for 22, while Ataullah was bowled by Fazal for 2. Jotun's star batsman Shabaz Aslam scored a fine 66 before being caught of the bowling of Younus. Muneer and Jotun Paints captain Nasrullah remained not out for 79 and 44 respectively. At the end of 18 overs Jotun Paints scored 224 for four wickets. Safra started their innings through Hammad Bhatt (25) and Khaja Asghar (19). But Razeed (11), Omar (0), and Azmath (7) fell quickly leaving Fawad Bhutt to bring some respect to the score with a fine 67 not out as Safra scored 138 for 5 wickets. Muneer Siraj of Jotun Paints was declared man of the match.

Blue Star elected to bat against R.C. (B) and Blue Star benefited from the 12 dropped catches. The highlight of the match was a fine 97 by Kazim and 71 (retired) by Shaukatullah. Riaz of R.C. (B) got 2 wickets. After 20 overs Blue Star scored 207 for 5 wickets. R.C. (B) batsman succumbed under the run rate pressure and only Riaz (30), Siraj (18), Mujeeb (19) and Riaz Junior (19) scored in their side's total of 136 runs. Salman took 1 wicket while Tabrez and Kazim took 2 and 3 wickets respectively. Syed Kazim of Blue Star was declared the man of the match for his 97 runs and 3 for 15.
