RIYADH, 14 May 2004 — A new executive committee of the Riyadh Cricket Association had been named, RCA President A. Qadeer Mirza announced. The announcement came about a month after the previous committee was dissolved due to some problems. “We kind of slowed down our activities due to these problems.
There has been an audit and no financial irregularity was found. We’ll now restart on a clean slate,” Mirza said. Mirza’s term as chairman-president has been extended up to the year 2008 by RCA patron-in-chief Prince Brig. Gen. Dr. Abdul Aziz ibn Nasser.
Three prominent figures in the cricket community are among the new members of the committee. Tariq Javed, an adviser at SAMA (Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency), will sit as senior adviser. Consultant opthalmic surgeon Dr. Syed Abdul Shakir will come in as adviser, while Maqsood Ahmed is the new technical secretary.
The others named in the committee were Nasir Ali Khan of Saudi British Bank, vice president; Mohammed Razi Mohiuddin, general secretary, Ashlam Sheikh, treasurer, Raza ur Rehman, public relations officer (PRO), Syed Taqiuddin, media secretary and Ahsan Razam, youth cricket coordinator.
