RIYADH, 14 May 2004 — Herbie Trazo, Mahmoud Sindab and Habib Ali Batua did extremely well for the Luzviminda and Ranao Smashers teams in the ongoing Association of Filipino Tennis Players Spring Cup 2004 taking place at the Al Yamama Hotel Tennis Courts.
The Luzviminda troop managed by Herbie Trazo overpowered the Ball Thunder group at 43-13. The first and second doubles pair of John Mojica/Radi Bagnol and Herbie Trazo/Renato Gomez won uncontested by the non-appearance of their opponents.
Roland Pena and Manny Delimos displayed their outstanding game to beat Arnold Palmero and partner at 8-1 in the 3rd game.
Robert Miranda and Roland came back to gain an 8-3 win against Jimmy Isla and Ariel, and Peter Manalo and partner battered Karim and Imad in the 5th game. Then Fidel Ulan and Tad Flores fashioned an 8-7 victory over Dennis Miralles and partner in the A3/A4 category.
In other actions, the Mindanao Region's Ranao Smashers headed by Mahmoud Sindab and Habib Ali Batua derailed DQ Hunks 3C 41-33. In the first match, brothers Saifuddin and Samsuddin Mauntol clobbered Raul Optioma and Bonnie Abarre 8-4 while Habib Batua and Nikki Bangcola were sidelined 4-8 by Jun Basco and Felix Manalili.
Mike Sharif and Nikki Bangcola came back to beat Ray Axalan and Rolly Bondoc 8-1. Najeeb Tomawis and Jimmy Usman were stopped at 5-8 by Danny Bravo and Rene Lacaba. Lindi Capal and Casan Diamla bested Sonny Marilla and Ferdi Roc 8-6. Mahmoud Sindab and Ali Bacaraman blasted Unabia and Sonny Marilla 8-6 in the last game.
