Many prominent businessmen and artists who collect traditional historical pieces and ancient art works attended an auction of antiques at the restaurant, Multaqa Layali Al-Hijaz. The auction of 32 old pieces included old Hijazi clothes, cameras, sewing machines, old Qur’ans, an 80-year-old rifle, a sword, a cup that once belonged to the king of Sweden in addition to eighteenth and twentieth century iron pieces. The auction also featured a set of 400 year-old Mongolian chairs, Ottoman antiques, pictures of the Ka’aba door, various African ivories as well as a number of Persian and Iranian carpets.
