RIYADH, 23 October 2004 — Princess Al-Jawhara Al-Ibrahim, the wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd, will honor the charitable suhoor of the Down Syndrome Charitable Association (DSCA) today in the Queen’s Hall at Four Seasons Hotel.
The event is part of DSCA’s efforts to generate funds to finance the programs of the nonprofit organization that seeks to serve individuals with Down Syndrome and their families across Saudi Arabia.
Currently operating in Riyadh, DSCA provides family training and early intervention services, trying to enable an individual’s educational training and health care needs, in order to help them live a full and respectable life.
In addition, it is also recognized for its primary role in spreading awareness about Down Syndrome.
Statistics shows that at least one in between 600-800 newborns is born with Down Syndrome, which is a defect in their DNA that causes certain brain deficiencies that varies from one child to another, as well as, certain facial and bodily disfigurement.
By launching such events, the association hopes to engage the public’s attention to the problem of Down Syndrome children in the Kingdom.
