NEW DELHI, 6 November 2004 — BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi yesterday dubbed former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharati’s outburst as “indiscipline”.
Bharati had criticized fellow party leader Pramod Mahajan during an interview to a private news channel. “It is indiscipline,” he said, “Such comments should be avoided for the benefit of the party.” “Any public criticism of a colleague by any leader is not in the spirit of discipline that party President L.K. Advani has emphasized,” said Naqvi.
Naqvi also attacked her for claiming individual credit for the electoral victory in Madhya Pradesh. He claimed it amounted to “insulting” hundred of thousands of party workers who “toiled hard to oust the Congress government” in the state last December. He claimed such recent developments were causing harm to the party.
In another development, the Supreme Court yesterday ruled that a governor can give sanction for prosecution of a minister if prima facie case is made out against him, even though the council of ministers has refused to grant sanction for prosecution.
