DUBAI, 22 November 2004 — United Arab Emirates Minister of Energy Mohammed ibn Dhain Al-Hamili said yesterday that the UAE will maintain its present oil policy and there are no changes expected to take place. In his first statement to the Emirates news agency WAM after assuming his new post as Minister of Energy at the beginning of November, Al-Hamili said the UAE energy policy is aimed at utilizing oil revenue to achieve comprehensive development in the country. He further stated that the UAE will continue fulfilling its obligation to provide sufficient supplies of crude oil to the international oil markets in a way that would achieve stability in the international markets, global economy and safeguard the interests of both producers and consumers. The UAE is ranked fourth within the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) with a production quota of 2.356 million barrels per day and is currently producing about 2.5 million bpd.
