JEDDAH, 23 November 2004 — With the end of its 11th round on Saturday, the Saudi soccer league tournament takes a break for 35 days.
The Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Under-23 Soccer Competition is set to begin tomorrow.
The remaining matches of the King Fahd Cup soccer tournament will be staged after the Gulf Championship in Qatar. The matches to be played are Ahli vs. Ittifaq in Dammam, Ittihad vs. Nasr in Jeddah and Ittihad vs. Hilal in Riyadh.
All 12 participating teams will be divided into four groups — Group A includes Shabab, Ittifaq and Taie. Group B includes Ittihad, Nasr and Riyadh. Group C includes Ahli, Qadisiya and Ohud. Group D includes Hilal, Wahda and Al-Ansar. Tomorrow, Qadisiya will play against Ohud in Dammam and Taie against Ittifaq in Hail. On Thursday, Riyadh will play against Nasr in Riyadh and Al-Ansar against Wahda in Madinah.
Meanwhile, Ittihad will play the first leg of the AFC Champions League final against Korea’s Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma tomorrow.
Many Ittihad fans are hopeful of their team’s victory. Ittihad Club has acquired the tickets for the match and so its fans are to have a free access to the ground.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom’s Ahli Club arrived in Binzart, Tunisia, to play against the Tunisian Al-Binzarti team in the second stage of the Arab League Championship. Ahli, which will have its training before the match, is expected to pose a challenge to the Tunisian team, which includes many outstanding players, especially midfield specialists like Saleem ibn Afya, Muhrez Al-Askari, Zeyad Al-Arousi and De Santos, described as a dangerous attacker.
