MOSCOW, 29 November 2004 — The ice dancing duo Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov won the third title for Russia at the Moscow leg of the ISU Grand Prix here yesterday.
The Russians, who were leading their section of the event after Saturday’s original dance, confirmed their domination here with a solid presentation of Puccini’s ‘Tosca’ free dance.
Ukrainian dancers Elena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov, who were placed second ahead of the yesterday’s round of the competition, skated to Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’ during their free dance routine to grab silver.
Italy’s national champions Federica Failella and Massimo Scali remained third.
On Saturday Russia’s triple world champion Yevgeny Plyushchenko clinched victory in the men’s figure skating event, while his compatriot Irina Slutskaya grabbed the women’s title.
The Chinese duo Dan Zhang and Hao Zhang, who were clear favorites of the tournament, took the pairs skating title.
The top six men and ladies along with the top six pairs and ice-dancing teams will compete for the ISU Grand Prix series final in Beijing from Dec. 16-19.
