DUBAI, 1 December 2004 — The Saudi experience in developing the real estate industry will be one of the key topics to be discussed at a Feb.1-2 conference to be held in Dubai.
Ayedh Al-Qahtani, president of the Aloula Real Estate Development Company, will highlight the success of real estate projects undertaken in Makkah and Medinah, the Middle East’s largest real estate market. Shaikh Khalid Al-Qahtani, chairman of the National Real Estate Committee of Saudi Arabia, will shed light on the role of governments in promoting and facilitating real estate developments.
The presentations will be part of the Second Middle East Real Estate Conference organized in cooperation with the industry magazine, MEED.
The conference will review the opportunities and risks in the real estate boom in the Gulf which has witnessed a record number of developments and a sharp rise in property prices in the past five years.
The key industry event will be held alongside the Dubai Property Investment Show (DPIS) as the centerpiece of the International Property Week Dubai 2005.
Guy Guillemard, marketing director of the Domus Group, co-organizers of the Feb.1-3 DPIS, along with Strategic Marketing at the Dubai International Exhibition Center, said: “Our aim in partnering with a conference specialist like MEED was to give trade visitors an in depth trade show experience, by offering multiple platforms to explore the property market.”
“It also gives international visitors who travel to Dubai specifically for the exhibition a better opportunity to analyze the market fully, meet with key players and thus make well-informed decisions,” he said.
Among those presenting their experience in developing the real estate market in the Arab region will be Lebanon’s Karim Salameh, chairman of Eagle Management; Samih Barbir of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon, and Raja Makarem, managing partner of the leading Beirut-based property consultant, Ramco Real Estate Advisers.
