RIYADH, 2 December 2004 — Mohammed Niaz Ahmed Khan has been elected as the new chairman of the managing committee of International Indian School Riyadh (IISR) for one year, effective from Nov. 2004. IISR, which has 10,000 students on its roll and hundreds of teachers, is one of the largest Indian schools in the world.
The election was conducted under the supervision of Muidh Al-Qahtani, an observer from the Department of Foreign Education at the Ministry of Education and Anantha Krishna, first secretary at the Indian Embassy. M.L.R. Jafri, head of the IISR acted as the election commissioner.
Niaz pledged to work for the betterment of the school during his tenure as chairman and expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Education and the Indian Embassy for conducting a fair election.
In a press statement, the Riyadh-based Osmania University Old Boys NRI Association (OUOBNA) congratulated Niaz on his election. Mohammed Quaiser, OUOBNA’s president, and Mohammed Baseeruddin, general secretary thanked members of the IISR committee for electing Niaz for the second term.
