JEDDAH, 3 December 2004 — Veteran Pakistani journalist Mazhar Hassan Siddiqui died here yesterday, following a heart attack. He was 64. Siddiqui worked in Saudi Arabia with the English media for a quarter of a century. He complained of a chest pain on Tuesday night and was taken to New Jeddah Clinic Hospital. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Pakistan Journalists Forum Chairman Amir Muhammad Khan said, “Siddiqui’s death is a big loss to the expat community in general and Pakistani community in particular. His funeral was held in the evening and was attended by many colleagues and friends from the media.”

The Pakistani Embassy and Consulate General expressed grief over his sudden death. “His services will be greatly missed by the Pakistani community,” a consulate official told Arab News.
