KARACHI, 6 December 2004 — Two additional sessions judges who were kidnapped Saturday in Sukkur were still untraced yesterday.

Police claim that Judges Abdul Wahab Abbasi and Farooq Ahmed Channa have been kept in the Golo Daro forest, which has been cordoned off by security forces. Police pickets have also been set up on all the roads leading to Sukkur, Shikarpur and Larkana, and reinforcements have been summoned.

Police have arrested more than 25 suspects belonging to the Jatoi tribe during a massive crackdown in the Katcha area of Hafizabad in Shikarpur district in the last 24 hours in an attempt to rescue the kidnapped judges.

Meanwhile, members of various district bars, including Sukkur, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Jacobabad and Larkana, boycotted the courts on Saturday, to protest the kidnappings.

Abdul Wahab and Farooq Ahmed were kidnapped by bandits on Saturday night when they were going to Shikarpur from Larkana. The two were kidnapped with their colleague, Aftab Bughio, while returning from a medical checkup at the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

Bughio was later released due to his illness.
