JEDDAH, 13 December 2004 — Saudi Telecom Company has introduced a new package of land phone charges that allows clients to make calls anywhere in the Kingdom at the rate of 10 halalas per minute by just paying an additional monthly fee of SR15.

The company said it would also cut land phone domestic call charges offered by the existing package from 50 to 40 halalas at peak hours and from 25 to 20 halalas at off-peak hours, but the monthly subscription rate will remain as SR30.

The new cuts in STC land phone charges will come into effect today, the company said. The Saudi telecom giant has also offered to cut charges of calls from land phone to mobiles from 50 to 40 halalas per minute.

Last week STC reduced charges of SAWA to SAWA local calls by 29 percent from SR1.2 to 85 halalas per minute and by 16.5 percent (from SR1.2 to SR1) for local calls outside the network including land phones and Etisalat network.

STC has cut installation fee for ordinary and family mobiles from SR100 to SR50 and reinstallation fee for mobiles from SR100 to SR50. Local SMS rates have been brought down from 50 halalas to 25 halalas and international SMS from 70 to 60 halalas.
