HYDERABAD, 9 May 2005 — The Telugu Desam Party has decided to field Mrs. Paritala Sunita, widow of the slain MLA Paritala Ravi, as party candidate in the assembly byelection in Penukonda constituency in Anantapur district slated for June 2.
TDP president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conveyed the party’s decision to Sunita when she called on him along with other leaders from Anantapur at NTR Bhavan, the party office.
Her candidature will be formally announced at a meeting of party workers at Ramagiri temple in Ravi’s native village today. Naidu constituted a three-member team of senior leaders to conduct the meeting to “elicit” the views of party leaders and activists and declare the name of Sunita to contest the bypoll.
