DAMMAM, 11 May 2005 — Saudi Telecom’s EasyNet is increasing Internet interest in the Eastern Province, with Internet service providers (ISPs) competing with one another to attract users with enhanced services and rewards programs.

Sahara Net recently surprised subscribers by distributing a number of prizes without any prior promotion of the rewards.

“The company has planned to share its success with its customers ever since it launched its EasyNet service last February,” said Haitham Abu Aisha, general manager of Sahara Net. “We want the customers to feel that they’re part of the success.”

Abu Aisha said there were 10 winners who used the service extensively. Prizes offered by Sahara Net range from computer hardware and digital cameras to DVD players and SR500 shopping vouchers.

He also said customers will be rewarded for each hour spent online through a soon-to-be-launched points plan. Other monthly rewards are planned, and the general manager said it’s just the beginning — and ever larger rewards are planned in the coming months.
