JEDDAH, 12 May 2005 — The Riyadh Golden Institution denied in a press release issued by their legal adviser, Abdullah Bawareth, that the case they filed against Al-Ittihad Club was dropped.
Bawareth said that the judge did not dismiss the case as claimed by Ittihad but that he only assigned a new date, June 24, for hearing of the case.
Refuting a statement from the Ittihad club media center claiming that the case was dropped, Bawareth said the case is still under review by the court and the Ittihad press release is not true. Bawareth denied the institution was trying to damage the reputation of Ittihad saying they filed the lawsuit because they believed have a strong case against Ittihad.
The institution is seeking SR60 million in compensation from Ittihad for huge losses incurred by the company as a result of the breach of contract on the part of Ittihad in the marketing and sale of Ittihad gold cards.
