JEDDAH, 18 May 2005 — Seven players have earned their places back on the Saudi national soccer team after impressive performances in the 1st Islamic Solidarity Games and Saudi Soccer League.
Recalled to the national team were Abdullah Al-Waked from Al-Ittihad, Badar Tamem and Saad Al-Harthi from Al-Nasr, Naji Majrashi from Al-Shabab, Hassan Al-Otaibi from Al-Hilal, Muhammad Amin from Al-Ittihad and Hussein Abdul Ghani from Al-Ahli. They will join training camp in preparation for the World Cup qualifying matches againt Kuwait and Uzbekistan.
The decision to recall the players was reached in a meeting between the Saudi Soccer Federation top brass and the coaching staff.
SFF president Prince Sultan ibn Fahd and his deputy Prince Nawaf ibn Faisal were briefed by national coach Argentinian Gabriel Calderon and his assistant Naser Al-Jowhar during the meeting Monday night.
