JEDDAH, 20 May 2005 — A two-member delegation of Gem & Jewelry Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC) is touring Jeddah for two days from May 24. The team will hold a roadshow on the country’s gem and jewelry industry and give a presentation at Radisson SAS Hotel at 8:30 p.m on the upcoming India International Jewelry Show (IIJS) 2005 being held in Bombay from July 14-18.
The team, headed by Pankaj Parekh, the council’s convener for the eastern region, will hold meetings with Saudi businessmen from the gem and jewelry sector and extend an invitation to them to visit the IIJS 2005. The delegation will tour Riyadh and hold a similar presentation in cooperation with the Embassy of India at Hotel Riyadh InterContinental at 8:30 p.m. on May 23.
“The 65,000-member GJEPC organizes one Asia’s largest gem and jewelry trade exhibitions annually, which was a great success in 2004,” the spokesman for the council said. The show, which showcased varieties of Indian gems and jewelry of exquisite craftsmanship and design, and high precision machinery, had 1,200 stands and 30,000 visitors, he added. Saudi businessmen may contact Azar A.H. Khan, first secretary (economic and commercial) at the Embassy of India in Riyadh and Ashok Kumar, consul (commercial) at the Consulate General of India, for meeting the visiting team.
