LG Electronics and its IT distributor in Saudi Arabia, J. Al-Jassim Electronics have been recognized for their support of IT literacy in the Kingdom. The companies sponsored a Kingdomwide Education Software Design Competition, aimed at promoting IT education in schools through teachers.
More than 1,000 teachers, both men and women from all over Saudi Arabia, took part in the contest. Teachers were invited to design their own education software to further encourage IT skills development in students.
At a recent awards ceremony attended by Education Minister Dr. Abdullah ibn Saleh Bin-Obaid, cash prizes worth up to SR45,000 were presented to the competition’s main category winners. Certificates and LG gifts were also handed out to the 200 best entries.
Addressing guests at the prize giving, Dr. Abdullah thanked LG Electronics and J. Al-Jassim Electronics Est. for their support of IT in education at all levels in Saudi Arabia’s schools and he presented plaques of appreciation to both companies.
Accepting the plaque, C.K. Cho, GM of LG Electronics Saudi Arabia, said: “We’re delighted by the response to the competition, which was a great opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to education excellence and IT creativity.”
