JUBAIL/RIYADH/JEDDAH/DAMMAM, 27 May 2005 — The Indian International School, Jubail has made history of sorts when it achieved 100 percent result in the CBSE Grade 10 exam in March. Although the Indian International Indian School-Dammam (IISD) also claimed a 100 percent results, it has got four compartments, while Jubail school has no failure and no compartments. Shifali Sashidharan of IIS Dammam topped the class 10th exam with a staggering 95.6%.
A comparative study of the CBSE results of all the Indian schools in the Kingdom shows that Jubail and Dammam schools achieved 100 percent results, while Riyadh and Jeddah School had 99.98 percent and 99.94 percent respectively.
From Jubail school, a total of 65 students appeared in the exam and all of them passed. School Principal Yaqoub Mazhar congratulated the students and advised them to work hard. He hoped the teachers would continue to give their best. The Indian community in Jubail said the results were a reflection of the school’s total commitment to maintain higher academic standards. P. Srilekha of Girls section with 93 percent and Somik Das Gupta of Boys section with 92 percent stood first and second respectively among the Jubail students. The Dammam School Director/Principal Group Capt. Mohammad Anwar said: “The results are absolutely fantastic. IIS Dammam scored a perfect ten as all its 497 candidates passed. Furthermore it has created a new record when 44 of its students scored above 90%, 272 students scored above 75%” and only 62 students were below 60%.”
International Indian School-Riyadh (IISR), with 99.75 percent result, has secured an overall second position in the Kingdom. Of a total of 456 students who sat for the exam, 455 passed and only one failed. There were 34 compartments and 185 distinctions. A total of 331 students are in first class with distinction, 63 in second class and 27 in third class. Jeena Badhar, Mohammed Shameer and Sreelakshmi S. Nair have been placed in first three positions in IISR, with 95.4, 93.4 and 93.2 percent respectively. Toppers in various subjects are Sumaiya Arfin (96 percent) in English; Basil Mohammed, Adnan Abdur Rahim, Rabeeh Abdul Jabbar, Christina Lilian John (all 99 percent) in math; Jasmine Mannil Abraham (99 percent) in science; Jeena Badhar (98 percent) in social science; Sreelakshmi Nair (92 percent) in Hindi; Geslin Reeba George (92 percent) in French; Seeni Hussaina Banu (88 percent) in Arabic; Shaikh Maryam Ghufran (95 percent) in Urdu; Jeena Badhar, Mohammed Shameer Celin Mary Skariah, Siny (97 percent) in Malayalam; and Janani S.V. (81 percent) in Tamil.
Aamir Anis has topped among students of International Indian School-Jeddah (IISJ). Out of IISJ’s 556 students who took the exam, claimed to be the largest number among the Kingdom’s international Indian schools, 353 passed in first division. Only four students could not get through the exam. There were 1,042 distinctions obtained in various subjects.
“As in grade 12, the grade 10 board results also are the school’s best in the past many years in contrast to the general trend in the board and other schools in the Kingdom” IISJ’s acting Director and Principal Mohammed Shaffe stated.
Aamir Anis scored 469 marks out of 500 (93.8 percent), followed by Hasil Mohamed Ali’s 466 marks (93.2 percent). Marwa Hussain was in third position with a score of 463 (92.6 percent), followed by Hanan Syed Javed Mahmood 459 (91.8 percent).
Subject toppers are: English — Sanoop Jacob, Jasmine Johney, Jowairiyah Hassan (all 95 percent); Arabic - Mohammed Adnan Quraishi, Aamir Anis, Hasil Mohammed (all 90 percent); Hindi - Sofiya Khan (90 percent); Urdu - Salma Shaheen (96 percent); Malayalam - Farhana U. (97 percent); Math - Denis Philip, Hasil Mohammad, Mir Osman Ali, Shabana Zainab, Fayezah Ahsan (all 99 percent); social science - Zainab Maleeha, Fatima Meerlabi Marwa Hussain (all 96 percent); science Aamir Anis (100 percent); and French - Miss Noel Susan Joy (84 percent).
Riyadh’s Middle East International School has achieved 100 percent results. Eighteen students appeared and all of them passed with nine of them getting distinction in various subjects. Fifteen students are placed in first class. Four students have a 90 percent score. The topper is Hrishhikesh V.P. with 92 percent. Amalasara Abraham (91.4 percent), Maithili Gokaran (91.2 percent) and Rajesh Krishnamurthy (91 percent) are among the achievers, according to school Principal Tabassum Farooqi.
