JEDDAH, 30 May 2005 — Al-Ahli hammered out a decisive 3-0 victory over Ohud yesterday in the King Fahd Cup soccer tournament at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here.
Brazilian internationals Alessandro and Flavio were the goal scorers in the lopsided match. Alessandro opened the scoring for the hosts in the 34th minute. Flavio added goals in the 44th and 77th minute. The victory gave Ahli the much-needed full three points to remain in fifth position with 32 points from 19 matches. Battling to stay alive in the race for a spot in the final four, Ahli still need at least six points in their last three games to have any chance of advancing to the next stage of the competition.
In Chicago, Kieran Richardson had a dream England debut on Saturday as the 20-year-old midfielder scored twice in a flattering 2-1 victory over the United States in an international friendly at Soldier Field.
Manchester United’s Richardson was given his England chance in the absence of a host of first team regulars. He opened the scoring with only his second touch of the ball, a superb curling free kick after four minutes, and got his second from 15 meters just before halftime when he drilled a low shot past goalkeeper Kasey Keller.
