BEIRUT, 31 May 2005 — Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram has begun recording the songs for her upcoming album. It will feature 12 songs in Egyptian, Lebanese and Gulf dialects. The album is scheduled for release at the beginning of the summer. Nancy is also scheduled to hold two concerts in Tunisia in June. She will also film a new commercial for Coca Cola, Nancy’s second for the company.
The singer is currently on tour in the US and Canada alongside the well-known Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher. The tour is sponsored by the same agent who organized the successful tour of Lebanese singers Nawal Al-Zoughbi and Fadel Shaker. The tour was launched on May 13 in Miami, Florida and will end on July 11 in Boston, Massachusetts. Nancy will give eight concerts and Kathem six.
While on tour, a rumor began that Nancy had been involved in a traffic accident, that her mother had been killed and that she was in a coma. Several Lebanese channels verified the rumor, prompting Nancy to make a public denial from the US. She assured the that she and her mother were in perfect condition and had not been involved in an accident.
