JEDDAH, 2 June 2005 — In a rare presentation, expatriates from Southeast Asian countries came together on one platform to display the cultural talents of their children here recently. Artists presented a program of songs, some of them on peace, unity and prosperity. Countries represented included India, Pakistan, Philippines, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan Ambassador A.M.J. Sadiq, Pakistan Consul General Masood Akhtar, Hifzur Rahman, consul (information and administration) at the Consulate General of India, Bangladesh consuls Mohammed Wali Ullah and Mohammed Abdul Hamid, Saadat Ali Khan from the Consulate of South Africa, and Anwar Ali Ampang of the Philippine Consulate General were among those present. The show was the joint effort of La Sani restaurant adviser Masood Poori, Capt. Imran Khan of Pioneer Direct and Shabbir Patel of Al-Dahlawi Group, and supported by a team comprising members of different countries. Zahid, Jeanette, Chisty, Aubrey, Suhail, Muryum Saber, Ashraf, Omer, Aliya, Priya, Afshan, Sheela, Mizan, Saiful, and Ajay were among the artists who presented the program. Saber Shah, Shahid, H. Ullah Khan and Najir Ahmed gave the technical support. Pioneer Direct organized the event in which a “Super saver” discount card was also launched for expats.
