RIYADH, 2 June 2005 — Alma Lee scored the biggest triumph of her bowling career when she won the Masters title in the 2005 Kalayaan Cup Bowling Tournament at the Al Khozama Bowling Cener here.
The lefty Lee also won the doubles event with Mar Balmeo to become the female multiple winner in the event along with Ian Choco who won the singles and all-events titles.
Lee was among the top six to advance after the ladies pre-qualifying events in the team, trio, doubles and singles. The six players then bowled five games in sudden death format.
lee, from the Monday Night Bowling League, delivered one of her solid performances to outbowl her rivals with a five-game series of 958 on lines of 205, 167, 205, 176, and 205 and win the ladies Masters title.
For her feat, Lee received a cash prize plus an elegant trophy courtesy of NEC-Viva/Pinoy Plus through its marketing director jose gie sinaon.
Lulu Quejada from Leonardo’s team and Gladys Acosta of STBC gave Lee a good chase but the two ran out of frames and could only settle for second and third. Quejada tallied 940 pinfalls and Acosta 939. Both received cash prizes plus trophy.
Susan Sarmiento of the Tuesday Family Bowling League registered the high game scratch and high game with handicap at 220 and 255.
Choco of the Thursday/Friday League, won the singles and all events at a five-game series of 1,002 and 3,318, respectively, Sarmiento and Cely Ausa occupied the second and third positions in the singles.
The members of the 200 bowlers club in the ladies division were Sarmiento 220, Ausa 212, Quejada 212, Choco 211, Betsy Costumbrado and Acosta 202.
The achievement records in the men’s division aside from the perfect score of Andro Tismo, were the second high game scratch and high game with handicap notched by Philip Lee at 264 and 273.
