Atari's latest strategy game Act of War promises a new creative method in tactic and strategy approach. The game puts you in command of top-secret military unit Task Force Talon which uses the latest in high-tech equipments to restrain the terrorist group Consortium’s attempt to sabotage the global economy through a sequence of attacks on oil refineries and oil companies. In this review we’ll take a look at Graphics, Sounds, Multiplayer and Gameplay.
Graphics:
Act of War presents high-quality vast environments that are rich in details. Visual effects are supreme with absolutely phenomenal explosions and all of the troop animations look magnificent and accurately represented. The introduction of live-action cut scenes is an excellent alternative. Score: 9/10
Sound:
Act of War’s sound effects and music are pretty good. On the other hand voice acting is quite standard. The sound feature should have been given more attention. Score: 8/10
Multiplayer:
One of the best features of Act of War is multiplayer. Players are able to battle up to 7 opponents either humans are computers in skirmish or multiplayer mode. Both modes contain abundant maps based on the number of players participating. Each side has common and unique units which provides varieties of tactics and strategies applied by the players. Score: 8.5/10
Gameplay:
There are three different sides in Act of War: the American Army, the Consortium and the Task Force Talon. The campaign starts you out as the American Army. The first few missions leave you in control of only infantry. Eventually you get control of Task Force Talon as the terrorists shift their attack to US soil. The campaign mode plot is nicely laid out solid and full of interesting cut scenes even though it’s short. Overall, Act of War’s campaign mode is pretty rock solid. Score: 9/10
To finish off, Act of War possesses an appealing single player campaign, great style, good control, and adequate balance to enjoy it LAN Parties. Overall, Act of War delivers in all aspects. This game is highly recommended to strategy planning fans.
