BEIRUT, 5 June 2005 — Elli Deeb, business manager and husband of Lebanese singer Nawal Al-Zoughbi, has revealed that once again negotiations between his wife and Rotana Production Company have reached a dead end. Elli explained that the main reason was due to Nawal’s refusal to abide by Rotana’s conditions of exclusivity.
Elli revealed that the singer’s office is holding simultaneous negotiations with another major Arab production company. Elli stressed that regardless of the company Nawal settles on, she must have complete freedom to distribute her music. Nawal recently terminated her contract with Alam El Phan Production Company. She will take part in this year’s annual Jarrash Summer Festival in Jordan, after being absent from it since 1997.
Rotana has bought the exclusive rights to air and organize this year’s festival, and it is not clear whether Nawal’s participation in the festival is connected to her recent negotiations with Rotana.
